The community of Fairfield is reeling after a violent shooting at a Spirit Halloween store claimed the life of a thirty-one year old woman. Family members informed authorities that the victim, identified as Constance Hages, was pregnant at the time of her death. The gunfire erupted around 8:30 p.m. Friday night at the Solano Town Center, turning a seasonal shopping trip into a scene of absolute chaos and terror.
Witnesses described a surreal atmosphere where the initial confusion quickly shifted into sheer panic. One shopper recalled hearing several popping sounds that caused everyone to freeze momentarily before a second volley of shots sent crowds sprinting for the exits. In the desperation to escape, some shoppers reportedly broke through a security gate to flee back into the main mall area, while others abandoned their vehicles in the parking lot to get away from the danger.
In addition to the fatality, six other individuals between the ages of sixteen and forty three were wounded in the attack. Four victims remain in critical but stable condition at local hospitals, including a teenage boy and three young men, while two others have since been released. Despite the scale of the injuries, police believe the violence was not random but rather a targeted incident involving a single suspect inside the store.
As investigators review surveillance footage and process evidence with help from FBI Sacramento, no arrests have yet been made. The aftermath has left a deep mark on the neighborhood; Spirit Halloween has closed its doors indefinitely out of respect for those affected, and Solano Town Center canceled its scheduled Mall-O-Ween trick or treating festivities. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the shooter to contact the Fairfield Police Department immediately.
